Theory : Basically all thermal power plants works on the principle of Rankin cycle and Now a days most of the power plants work on the Rankin cycle principle with regenerative feed heating and reheat process.
As we all know that thermal power plant generate electricity from coal. So the thermal power plant is nothing but a combination of energy conversing devices. There are number of energy conversion processes. Such as
- conversion of chemical energy of coal to enthalpy and enthalpy(Heat energy) to the kinetic energy of steam . all these conversions takes place in BOILER.
- Conversion of kinetic energy of steam in to mechanical energy and This conversion takes place in TURBINE.
- Conversion of mechanical energy in to electrical energy. This takes place in GENERATOR.
